Top Ten Tuesday: Songs That I Wish Were Books

top ten

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is music! I will be choosing ten songs that I wish were books. Here’s my list:

1.) Somebody that I used to Know–Gotye

This song has a creepy edge and I can imagine if this song was a book, it could be about someone getting revenge on an ex.

2.) Yellow Flicker Beat–Lorde

Even though this song was for one of the Hunger Game movies, I always thought it would be the perfect song for a zombie plot. I can just imagine someone slowly going crazy throughout the story until they turn into a zombie at the end.

3.) End of Time–Beyonce

Whenever I hear this song, I think it would be perfect for a fluffy-ish YA book that would be turned into a teen dystopian movie. I see the female heroine walking down the street with stuff blowing up all around. Then. she races into a building to find her love interest tied to a chair or something and she has to make sure she cuts the right wire.

4.) Love is Blindness–Jack White

If there ever was a movie of Dreamland by Sarah Dessen, I can imagine this song being in the trailer.

5.) Don’t by Ed Sheeran

I can also imagine this song becoming a book about someone getting back about their ex, maybe through blackmail.

6.) Addicted to Love–Florence and the Machine

I’ve never read Delirium, but I imagine if this song was a book, it would have a similar plot. Whenever I hear this song, I think of people being forced to stay in a creepy hospital because people think they are crazy because they are in love.

7.) Pompeii by Bastille

I don’t know why so many songs make me think they would be good revenge or zombie books. I think this would also make a great zombie book because “the nothing’s changed at all” makes me think of how so many people mindlessly use technology compared to zombies mindlessly walking down the street.

8.) Some Nights by Fun

I always imagined this as a story of several people in a war-torn country fighting for survival in different ways. I watched the music video right after I wrote this and it is exactly what I pictured!

9.) Radioactive by Imagine Dragons

Whenever I think of this song, I think of the book Blood Red Road. I can imagine this song being made into a book with a similar plot as that book.

10.)Β Take Me Home by Cash Cash ft. Bebe Rexha

Whenever I listen to this song, I think about a great and dramatic relationship, like the song suggests. If this was a book, it think it would end with the couple older and finally getting their happily ever after!

  1. You have so many great pick on your list! I’d love to read a book based on Don’t. So many of Ed Sheeran’s songs would make great books. And Pompeii! I definitely endorse anything related to zombies so I’d totally be up for a book like that. Someone else had a Bastille song on their list and it got me thinking about their lyrics. I think Oblivion would be awesome as a book too.

    Here’s my TTT.
