Reread, Rewrite, Burn Tag

Book Tag

The Burn, Rewrite, and Reread Tag was originally created by Lauren Ann (you can see her video here). In this tag, you select three books and decide which book you reread, rewrite, and burn. To make my tag a little more interesting, I decided to choose my top nine most recent five stars read. After three rounds, I would pick the reread choice from each round for one final match. Here’s my choices:

Round One:

  • The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
  • P.S. I Like You by Kasie West
  • Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin

The Truth About Forever has been one of my favorite books since high school and it is the only book from this group that I’ve reread, so I will definitely choose that my reread. I love both P.S. I Like You and Wolf by Wolf for very different reasons, so it’s tough to choose which book to rewrite and which book to burn. Even though I love P.S. I Like You, I think I’m going to burn it because there are so many similar books to it that I could find another that I like just as much. That leaves Wolf by Wolf as my rewrite.

WINNER: The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

Round Two:

  • The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
  • Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
  • The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

Like with The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen, Just Listen is one of my favorite books of all time and the only book that I’ve reread on this list. As a result, it takes the reread spot. Deciding which book to rewrite or burn is a little easier in this round. Even though I really liked The Sun is Also a Star, I don’t have an attachment to it. Therefore, it is my burn choice. Even though I wouldn’t want to rewrite The Hate U Give, I’m sure a few sentences could be changed here or there to qualify it as a rewrite.

WINNER: Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

Round Three:

  • Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han
  • The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West
  • Geekerella by Ashley Poston

This is so hard! All of these books are cute contemporary reads which is my favorite type of story to read. I think I’ll choose Always and Forever, Lara Jean as my reread because I absolutely loved this book and wouldn’t change a thing about how the series ended. Now, it gets a little tougher. Even though there are plenty of books like The Fill-In Boyfriend, it was the first book that really got me invested in Kasie West’s books. Even though I just read Geekerella a few days ago and don’t have as much of an attachment, I really enjoyed it and could see a few parts of could possibly be rewritten. This is tough, but I think I’m going to have to burn another Kasie West book and rewrite Geekerella.

Final Round:

  • The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
  • Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
  • Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Sarah Dessen

This should be tougher since it is the final round, but I’m going to rip the Band-Aid off early. Always and Forever, Lara Jean is going to have to be my burn. Since I’ve read it more recently, I’m not as attached to it as the two Sarah Dessen books in this round. For my rewrite, I’m going to choose The Truth About Forever since Just Listen is my favorite young adult book. That leaves Just Listen for the reread spot in this round.
